Can I throw a grenade through an empty corridor to the next room?

Quick answer

No, grenades can only be used in adjacent corridors, not through them into rooms.

Details

Grenades are designed to target Intruders in adjacent Corridors. When using a Grenade token, the Character selects an adjacent Corridor and resolves the effect there, dealing Hits to Intruders in that Corridor [p.17 — Grenade Tokens]. The rule explicitly states that the roll "does not count as a Character Bursting," and there is no mention of grenades affecting Rooms beyond the targeted Corridor.

The game mechanics for grenades and Bursting are distinct:

  • Grenades (p.17) affect only the chosen Corridor.
  • Bursting (p.33) also targets adjacent Corridors but uses a different procedure and Ammo expenditure.

Neither action allows indirect attacks through Corridors into Rooms. To affect a Room, Characters must use Actions like Shooting (for Intruders in the same Room) or other Room-specific effects.

Watch out: Players might assume grenades can "overthrow" into connected Rooms, but the rules restrict their use to the immediate Corridor. Always verify the target zone when using area-effect weapons.
