How do I resolve Noise in unexplored corridors?
Quick answer
When moving through an unexplored corridor, you resolve the Exploration Sequence first; noise rolls happen after the new room is placed. [p.24 — Exploration Sequence]
Details
When a Character moves through an Unexplored Corridor to an Undiscovered Room, you must resolve the Exploration Sequence before making any noise roll. This sequence involves drawing an Exploration card and placing new rooms and corridors on the map. [p.24 — Exploration Sequence]
After the Exploration Sequence is complete—including setting up the new room, corridors, and any markers shown on the card—you then make a Noise roll. This noise roll is part of the "Entrance Effect" step of the Exploration Sequence. [p.24-25 — Exploration Sequence and Noise Roll]
The noise roll itself works normally: you roll the Noise die and resolve its result based on the corridors adjacent to the room you just entered. [p.25 — Noise Roll]
Watch out: Noise markers shown on the Exploration card itself are placed during setup (step 3 of the Exploration Sequence), but you don't resolve them into intruders at that time. Only when you make the Noise roll afterward do you resolve any noise markers that might be in adjacent corridors. [p.24-25 — Exploration Sequence]
