How does movement generate noise for the Intruder?

Quick answer

Movement generates noise through a Noise roll made after each move; the die result determines which adjacent corridors get Noise markers or trigger Intruder appearances. [p.25 — Noise Roll]

Details

After a Character moves to a Room, they must make a Noise roll (with rare exceptions for special effects). The player rolls a Noise die, and the result determines what happens in adjacent corridors: [p.25 — Noise Roll]

Numbered results (1–5): Find all corridors adjacent to the Character's current Room that match the rolled number. For each matching corridor, resolve in order: if it contains an Intruder, that Intruder moves to the Character's Room; if it has a Noise marker already, resolve that marker (which may spawn Intruders); if it has no Noise marker, place one there. [p.25 — Noise Roll]

Hazard result (6): Draw an Intruder token from the bag and resolve it—this typically places an Intruder directly in the Character's Room. [p.25 — Noise Roll]

Watch out: A Noise roll must be made after every movement, even when moving into a Room that already contains another Character or Intruders. [p.25 — Noise Roll After Every Movement] The noise you generate can immediately trigger Intruder attacks if Intruders appear in your Room as a result.
