Nemesis: Retaliation · Board game rules

what triggers a xeno movement?

Quick answer

Intruders (the rulebook's term for aliens) move only because of Event cards, Noise rolls, Repelling effects, or the Queen's Activation.

Details

Event cards: In the Event Phase, the first part of the card moves Intruders. The icons say which ones: those in Corridors of a shown orientation, or all those in Rooms. [p.14 — 3. EVENT CARD RESOLUTION] [p.31 — EVENT CARDS] They move toward the closest Character by the shortest route. [p.30 — GENERAL RULES:]

Noise roll: If a Character's Noise roll matches an adjacent Corridor that contains Intruders, one Intruder from that Corridor (the largest first) enters the Character's Room and tries to Attack. [p.25 — NOISE ROLL] [p.31 — NOISE ROLL]

Repelling: Effects that Repel an Intruder make it move away from the Character or other source of the effect. [p.31 — REPELLING]

Queen Activation: When the Queen Activates, she Attacks a Character in her Room. If there isn't one, she moves once toward the closest Character. [p.35 — QUEEN ACTIVATION] This usually happens when a Queen token is drawn during Bag Development. [p.15 — 4. BAG DEVELOPMENT]

Watch out: Intruders already in a Room with a Character don't move. They stay in Combat unless Repelled. [p.30 — GENERAL RULES:] Intruders that would move through a Closed Door destroy it and do not move that time. [p.31 — INTRUDERS MOVING THROUGH DOORS]
