Nemesis Carnomorphs reference sheet

Overview

  • Expansion for Nemesis replacing Intruders with Carnomorphs — rapidly adapting, flesh-eating monsters [p.4 — Game Introduction]
  • Carnomorphs Feed on corpses, carcasses, eggs, and each other to evolve into stronger forms [p.6 — Feeding]
  • Characters can Mutate from Carnomorph exposure; 4 Mutation markers = death [p.4 — Mutations]
  • "Intruder" and "Carnomorph" are interchangeable throughout all rules and cards [p.2 — Components]
  • No Larva mechanic — the Larva board space is used for Mutation markers instead [p.4 — Mutations]

Setup

  1. Place Carnomorph board next to main board [p.3 — Setup]
  2. Place 8 Egg tokens on Carnomorph board [p.3 — Setup]
  3. Place 3 random Carnomorph Adaptation cards face down on board; place 1 Shambler, 1 Fleshbeast, 1 Butcher miniature on their Adaptation cards [p.3 — Setup]
  4. Fill Intruder bag: 1 Blank, 2 Blue Metagorgers, 2 Red Metagorgers + 1 Red Metagorger per player [p.3 — Setup]
  5. Shuffle Carnomorph Attack, Carnomorph Event, Contamination, and Character Mutation decks and place face down [p.3 — Setup]
  6. Replace standard Help cards with Carnomorph Help cards [p.3 — Setup]

Turn structure

Event Phase order:

  1. Move Time marker 1 space right (and Self-Destruct marker if active) [p.6 — Event Phase]
  2. Intruder Attack / Feeding — Carnomorphs in Combat attack; others Feed on Heavy Objects/Metagorgers in their Room [p.6 — Event Phase]
  3. Fire Damage — each Carnomorph in a Fire Room suffers 1 Injury [p.7 — Fire Damage]
  4. Draw and resolve 1 Event card [p.7 — Resolve Event Card]
  5. Draw 1 token from Intruder bag and resolve its effect [p.7 — Intruder Bag Development]

Actions

Action Cost Effect
Mutation Action Scan 1 Contamination card from Hand + place 1 Mutation marker Perform INFECTED or NOT INFECTED effect on Mutation card; flip card face up first use [p.4 — Mutation Action]
Laboratory (Analyze Object) Standard action cost Discard a revealed Carnomorph Adaptation whose miniature was removed from its card [p.5 — Carnomorph Adaptations]

Combat

Metagorger Attack (replaces drawing Attack card):

  • Character gets 1 Mutation card + 1 Contamination card + suffers 1 Light Wound [p.5 — Intruder Attack]
  • If Character already has a Mutation card: only gets Contamination card + 1 Light Wound [p.5 — Intruder Attack]
  • Always: add 1 Shambler token to Intruder bag, remove Metagorger miniature from board [p.5 — Intruder Attack]

Injury & Death — check Injury Effect on Attack card:

  • Metagorger/Shambler killed → remove miniature, place Intruder Carcass token [p.5 — Carnomorph Injuries and Death]
  • Fleshbeast killed → remove miniature, place Intruder Carcass token + 1 Shambler miniature [p.5 — Carnomorph Injuries and Death]
  • Butcher killed → remove miniature, place 2 Shambler miniatures; Butcher never returns [p.5 — Carnomorph Injuries and Death]
  • Shamblers placed on death are NOT drawn from bag [p.5 — Carnomorph Injuries and Death]

End of game

Contamination Check (each surviving/evacuated Character):

  • No Mutation card → Scan all Contamination cards; if any INFECTED → gain Mutation card [p.7 — Contamination Check]
  • Has Mutation card → shuffle all cards, draw top 4; each Contamination card drawn = 1 Mutation marker [p.7 — Contamination Check]
  • 4 Mutation markers = Character dies [p.7 — Contamination Check]
  • Blue Character Corpse can be consumed by Carnomorphs during the game, making some Objectives impossible [p.6 — Feeding]

Glossary

  • Metagorger: lowest Carnomorph tier; Red tokens added to bag preferentially over Blue [p.5 — Carnomorph Symbols]
  • Shambler: tier-2 Carnomorph; placed (not drawn from bag) when Metagorger/Fleshbeast/Butcher dies [p.5 — Carnomorph Injuries and Death]
  • Fleshbeast: tier-3 Carnomorph [p.5 — Carnomorph Symbols]
  • Butcher: tier-4 Carnomorph; cannot enter Technical Corridors; once killed, never returns [p.5 — Carnomorph Symbols]
  • Feeding: when a Carnomorph not in Combat shares a Room with a Heavy Object or Metagorger — it evolves one tier and consumes the object [p.6 — Feeding]
  • Mutation card: hidden card gained from Metagorger attack or Infected Contamination scan; revealed on first Mutation Action use [p.4 — Character Mutation Cards]
  • Mutation marker: tracked in Larva space; 4th marker = instant death; cannot be removed [p.4 — Mutation Markers]
  • Carnomorph Adaptation: face-down card revealed when that Carnomorph type first appears; strengthens Carnomorphs; removed by Laboratory analysis [p.5 — Carnomorph Adaptations]
  • Heavy Object: Character Corpse, Intruder Carcass, or Intruder Egg — used as Carnomorph food [p.6 — Feeding]
  • Feeding Priority (who eats): Butcher > Fleshbeast > Shambler > Metagorger [p.6 — Feeding]
  • Food Priority (what is eaten): Red Corpse > Intruder Egg > Intruder Carcass > Metagorger > Blue Corpse [p.6 — Feeding]
