Setup
- Assemble score track; place all VP markers on 0 [p.6]
- Draw 2 Objective cards (1 Phase 1, 1 Phase 2); place face-up on track — use Starter (S) cards for first game [p.6]
- Each player gets 1 random AI card, matching standee, and 3 Player Aid cards; place AI card in center of middle row [p.6]
- Stack Phase 1 Development cards into a face-down deck; set Phase 2 aside [p.6]
- Deal 4 Phase 1 cards to each player; each keeps 2 in reserve, shuffles 2 back; place Divider card to right of reserve [p.8]
- Deal 7 more Phase 1 cards to each player (hand goes right of Divider) [p.8]
- 2-player: reveal a 2×3 grid as neutral neighbor; different draft rules apply [p.14]
- Solo: build 3×3 draft grid with 9 Phase 1 cards; standee starts on AI color Divider [p.14]
Turn structure
All players act simultaneously each turn:
- Choose 1 card from hand → add to reserve [p.8]
- Pass remaining hand left (Phase 1) or right (Phase 2) [p.8]
- Choose 1 card from reserve → place face-down in front of you [p.8]
- Reveal simultaneously → place in tableau (must be orthogonally adjacent to existing card; max 3 rows × 5 columns) [p.8]
- Check card effect → immediately gain VP on score track [p.8]
Turn 7 (last): receive only 1 card; add to reserve, play 1, discard remaining reserve [p.9]
Black cards resolve after all other card effects [p.17]
Scoring
Immediate (each turn): gain VP shown on the played Development card's effect [p.4]
End of Phase 1: check Phase 1 Objective card; gain VP if condition met [p.9]
End of Phase 2: check Phase 2 Objective card; gain VP if condition met [p.9]
AI card scoring: after Phase 2 Objective, check your AI card condition; gain VP [p.9]
- A card or connector can only count toward a single combination [p.16]
- Black cards (105/106): gain VP equal to whichever adjacent player scores most this turn [p.21]
- Solo scoring thresholds: 111=Mentat → 142=PRIV8 [p.15]
End of game
- Game ends after Phase 2 last turn + Objective + AI card scoring [p.9]

- Tied players share the victory [p.9]
