How does Claudyne's card affect combat in Tainted Grail: Kings of Ruin?

Quick answer

Claudyne's Enemy Combat cards are placed in the Sequence during Encounters and provide Bonuses like player cards, but they're controlled by the game and reshuffled when the deck empties.

Details

Claudyne the Unknighted introduces a unique mechanic using Enemy Combat and Diplomacy cards. At the start of a Claudyne Encounter, you create a face-down deck of these cards according to instructions from the Exploration Journal. Throughout the Encounter, they are placed at the end of the Sequence according to the Encounter's Trait. [p.39 — Claudyne Encounter Rules]

Enemy Combat cards function identically to player Combat cards in most respects: they are placed in the Sequence, may provide Bonuses when connected to other cards, and their Abilities remain active while visible. However, they do not count as the first card played during a Character's Activation. When discarded, these enemy cards return to the Secret deck or are set aside for potential reuse during the same Encounter. [p.39 — Claudyne Encounter Rules]

The Encounter also features an "Impact" Trait that removes 1 marker from Claudyne's card after the Delayed Abilities step. When the last marker is removed, the attached Effect resolves. [p.39 — Impact - Effect]

Watch out: When Claudyne's deck runs empty, you must shuffle all cards from the Sequence and discard piles back into their decks, recreate Claudyne's deck, place 1 marker on the Encounter card, and each Party member loses 1 Health and gains 1 Terror. [p.39 — Claudyne's Deck and Reshuffle]
