When can I not place a token?
Quick answer
You cannot place a Wildlife Token if the Habitat Tile already has a token or if the tile does not show the matching wildlife type.
Details
Wildlife Tokens can only be placed on Habitat Tiles that meet two conditions:
- No existing token: The Habitat Tile must not already have a Wildlife Token on it. Each tile can hold at most one token [p.7 — 2 Place the Tile and Token into Your Environment].
- Matching wildlife: The Habitat Tile must display the corresponding wildlife type (e.g., a tile showing "Forest" and "Wetlands" can only accept tokens for wildlife that matches those habitats, as indicated on the tile) [p.7 — 2 Place the Tile and Token into Your Environment].
If neither condition is met (e.g., all available tiles are occupied or none match the token’s wildlife), the player must return the token to the Cloth Bag instead of placing it.
Watch out: If you attempt to place a token on a non-matching tile or an occupied one, it’s invalid, and the token is returned. Always check tile compatibility before finalizing placement.
