How do you tame the Monster?

Quick answer

To tame a Mystling, fulfill all conditions on its Taming card in order during Combat. Not all Mystlings can be tamed; the Adventure Journal indicates eligibility.

Details

To tame a Mystling during Combat:

  1. Taming Card Requirement: A Taming card must be present during Combat setup. If no Taming card is used, the Mystling cannot be tamed [p.25 — End of Combat].
  2. Conditions: Complete all listed conditions on the Taming card in sequence. Conditions remain fulfilled even if the game state changes (e.g., healing after reducing the Enemy’s ❤️) [p.25 — TAME].
  3. Completion: Once the final condition is met, Combat ends immediately, and the Mystling is added to your party.

Non-Combat Taming (Scenario 2+):
You may also tame Mystlings outside Combat by spending Essence during the "Navigating the World Map" step. Essence is gained from arcane locations and interactions, with a max of 6 [p.9 — Essence ⚠️].

Watch out:

  • Only Mystlings with a Taming card can be tamed in Combat.
  • Essence-based taming is unavailable in Scenario 1.
  • Tamed Mystlings are added to your Party divider and can be chosen in future Scenarios.
