When do the miniatures run out?

Quick answer

Miniatures run out when all 8 Adult Intruder tokens are on the board; excess Intruders retreat to replenish the pool.

Details

The game includes a fixed number of Intruder tokens: 8 Adult Intruders (4 sculpts), 4 Larvae, 1 Creeper, 1 Queen, and 2 Breeders [p.6 — GAME SETUP]. During setup, the Intruder bag starts with 1 Blank, 4 Larvae, 1 Creeper, 1 Queen, 3 Adults, plus 1 Adult per player. Remaining tokens are kept next to the board for later use.

If a rule requires placing an Adult Intruder but all 8 are already on the board, the Adults not in Combat retreat: remove them from the board and return their tokens to the Intruder bag. Then, place one Adult in the Encounter location [p.15 — ADDITIONAL NOTES ABOUT INTRUDER MOVEMENT]. This ensures the pool is never fully depleted.

Character miniatures (one per player) do not "run out," as they are removed only when the character dies (replaced by a Corpse token). The Intruder bag’s token management prevents exhaustion of miniatures during play.

Watch out: Retreats only apply to Adults. Other Intruder types (Larvae, Creeper, Breeders, Queen) have fixed quantities and are not replenished if all are on the board.
