How do I complete missions in Rebirth?
Quick answer
In Scotland, complete Private Missions by fulfilling their conditions (revealed when drawn from Cathedrals). In Ireland, complete Public Missions by meeting their conditions when placing a Tile, or gain Private Missions via Round Towers.
Details
Scotland (Private Missions):
When you first place a Tile adjacent to a Cathedral space, you draw a Mission Card and place your Cathedral on the space. The card’s condition (e.g., controlling specific Castles or building certain Farms) is private. You score points for fulfilling it at the end of the game, even if tied with others [p.4 — CATHEDRALS].
Ireland (Public Missions):
After placing a Tile, check the row of face-up Public Mission Cards. If your action meets a mission’s condition, you score: the first player to complete it scores the higher value, others score the lower. Each player can complete each card once [p.7 — PUBLIC MISSION CARDS].
Ireland (Private Missions via Round Towers):
Activating the “Draw a Public Mission Card” Round Tower bonus lets you take a Public Mission as a Private one. You score the higher value if completed, revealed at game’s end [p.8 — Draw a Public Mission Card (1x)].
Watch out:
In Ireland, Public Missions can be completed by multiple players, but only the first earns the higher score. Ensure you track which missions you’ve completed and which remain active.
Tie Note (Scotland):
Ties for mission conditions still allow scoring, as the rule explicitly states: “You can satisfy the condition on a Mission Card even if you are tied with other players” [p.4 — CATHEDRALS].
