Dune: Imperium – Uprising · Board game rules
How many cards per player?
Quick answer
Each player starts with a 10-card deck.
Details
The rulebook specifies that each player begins the game with a 10-card starting deck containing the following cards:
- 2 Convincing Argument
- 2 Dagger
- 1 Diplomacy
- 2 Dune, the Desert Planet
- 1 Reconnaissance
- 1 Seek Allies
- 1 Signet Ring
These cards are identified by a specific symbol and form the foundation of a player’s deck before any deck-building occurs during gameplay [p.5 — PLAYER COMPONENTS].
Players may acquire additional cards (Imperium or Reserve cards) during the game using Persuasion gained through card effects and board spaces. These acquired cards are added to the player’s discard pile and become part of their deck once reshuffled [p.13 — Acquiring Cards].
Watch out: While the starting deck is always 10 cards, the total number of cards in a player’s deck increases as they acquire new cards. However, trashing weaker cards (removing them permanently) can reduce the deck size strategically.
