Can you reuse tokens to make more animals?

Quick answer

Yes — a single token can be part of several Habitats (identical or different), so it can help complete multiple Animal cards.

Details

The Player Aid explicitly states that "a token may be part of several (identical or different) Habitats," meaning the same tokens on your Personal board can satisfy the pattern requirements for more than one Animal card [p.7 — Take and place tokens].

However, each Animal cube placement still requires that the specific space where the cube goes be unoccupied — once a cube is placed there, that exact spot can't be reused for another cube [p.4 — Place 1 Animal cube]. Also, each cube placement is final, even if the Habitat that justified it is later broken up or no longer exists on your board [p.7 — Take and place tokens].

Watch out: While the tokens forming the pattern can overlap between Habitats, the actual space designated for the Animal cube itself must always be empty at the time of placement — you can't stack two cubes on the same token.
