When can I play attack/thwart events?
Quick answer
You can play attack/thwart events during your turn as an action, paying their cost like any other card. [p.10 — Player Turn]
Details
Events are played from your hand during your turn as one of your available options. To play an event, you place it on the table, pay its cost by generating resources, and then resolve its effects before placing it in your discard pile. [p.11 — Playing a Card]
Events with "Action" timing can be triggered during your turn whenever you choose, as long as you can pay the cost. [p.13 — Triggering an Action Ability] You may also request another player to trigger an action ability on an event card they have in hand during your turn, and they decide whether to do so. [p.10 — Player Turn]
Some events may have other timing triggers like "Interrupt" or "Response," which allow them to be played at specific moments outside your turn. [p.13 — Other Triggered Abilities] However, standard attack and thwart events are typically action abilities played during your turn.
