How do I occupy the most spaces adjacent to the castle?
Quick answer
To occupy the most spaces adjacent to a Castle, place Tiles next to it; if you have more adjacent Tiles than others, you control the Castle. Ties are broken by Energy/Food Farm Tiles, then against the current player.
Details
To gain control of a Castle, you must occupy the most Tiles adjacent to the Castle space. When you place a Tile next to a Castle:
- If no Castle is present, place yours.
- If another player’s Castle is there, compare adjacent Tiles. If you have more, replace their Castle with yours.
- If tied, the player with more Energy/Food Farm Tiles adjacent wins. If still tied, the current player loses.
Watch out: Castles themselves are not occupied spaces—only player Tiles on adjacent hexes count. Energy and Food Farm Tiles are prioritized in tiebreakers, while Settlement Tiles don’t contribute unless specified. [p.4 — CASTLES]
