When does triggering an alarm in stealth mode occur?

Quick answer

An alarm is triggered in Stealth mode if: (1) the Threat track reaches the end, (2) a hero or Corpse token is spotted by an enemy, (3) the Action card deck is exhausted, or (4) a black Stealth die shows a Special side.

Details

Triggering an alarm in Stealth mode occurs under four specific conditions:

  1. Threat Track Completion: If the cube on the Threat track advances to the final space (6), an alarm is immediately triggered [p.45 — 3. c) TRIGGERING AN ALARM].
  2. Spotting by Enemies: If a hero or Corpse token enters an enemy’s field of vision (Line of Sight), an alarm is triggered. This includes enemies becoming adjacent to a Corpse token [p.44 — FOCUS: SHADOW ZONES; p.45 — 3. c) TRIGGERING AN ALARM].
  3. Exhausted Action Deck: If the draw deck of Action cards runs out during the Enemy Phase, an alarm is triggered [p.45 — 3. c) TRIGGERING AN ALARM].
  4. Special Die Roll: Rolling a Special side on the black Stealth die automatically triggers an alarm [p.47 — SPECIAL STEALTH DIE SIDES].

When an alarm is triggered, Stealth mode ends immediately, and all players transition to Combat mode. Heroes start the first Combat turn with 0 Initiative unless they were off the board [p.49 — 1. TRIGGERING THE ALARM].

Watch out: If multiple enemies spot a hero or Corpse token simultaneously, killing all triggering enemies in a single action is impossible. Each kill action can only target one enemy, so the alarm will trigger if multiple enemies are in visual range [p.49 — 2. PICKING UP YOUR TURN AGAIN TO AVOID THE ALARM].
