How do I gain new Spellcaster Talents?
Quick answer
You gain new Spellcaster (Mhaÿ) Talents by acquiring Mhaÿ Talent cards during gameplay, either through leveling up, events, or other in-game opportunities. The first Mhaÿ Talent must be a School card, granting an Attack Spell and a random Classic Spell. Subsequent Mhaÿ Talents (Improvement cards) grant additional Classic Spells.
Details
To gain new Mhaÿ Talents:
-
Acquiring Mhaÿ School Cards: The first Mhaÿ Talent a hero obtains must be one of the 4 School cards (e.g., Elemental Magic, Body, etc.). When equipped, this grants:
- The associated Attack Spell card (placed face-up next to the Hero board).
- One random Classic Spell card (drawn and placed next to the Hero board) [p.64 — Special Elements].
-
Improvement Cards: After acquiring a School card, heroes can later obtain Mhaÿ Improvement cards (marked with two Mhaÿ icons). Each Improvement card allows the hero to draw an additional random Classic Spell card [p.64 — Special Elements].
-
Leveling Up: When a hero Levels Up, they may gain a new Talent. If they choose a Mhaÿ Talent, they draw 3 cards from any Class deck, select one, and add it to their Hero board. The other cards are shuffled back into their decks [p.15 — TALENTS].
-
Group Limit: No more than 2 heroes in the group can have Mhaÿ Talents. Once this limit is reached, no additional Mhaÿ Talents can be acquired [p.15 — TALENTS].
Watch out:
- School Card Dependency: If a hero loses their Mhaÿ School Talent card (e.g., due to removing a hero or discarding cards), they also lose the associated Attack Spell [p.64 — Special Elements].
- No Spell Exchanges: Attack Spell cards (tied to School cards) cannot be exchanged or discarded. Only Classic Spell cards can be swapped during specific events [p.64 — Special Elements].
