When does a card in play affect my game?
Quick answer
A card in play affects your game from when it is played or revealed during your Agent or Reveal turn until the Clean Up step of your Reveal turn, unless trashed earlier.
Details
Cards remain "in play" (face up in front of you) after being played during an Agent turn or revealed during a Reveal turn. Their effects are active during this time, unless the card specifies a delayed or ongoing duration. For example:
- Agent turn effects: When you play a card to send an Agent, the effects in its Agent box resolve immediately and apply for the rest of the turn.
- Reveal effects: During a Reveal turn, the effects in the Reveal boxes of all revealed cards are resolved in any order you choose, and they apply during that phase.
All cards in play are discarded and moved to your discard pile during the Clean Up step of your Reveal turn, ending their active effects unless the card explicitly states otherwise (e.g., some cards grant permanent bonuses or require trashing).
Watch out: If a card is trashed during its effect (e.g., via a "Trash" icon or ability), it is immediately removed from play and no longer affects the game, even if it was just played. Always resolve trash effects before assuming an effect remains active.
