When do upgraded torpedoes become available?

Upgraded (Improved) Torpedoes become available in Cycle 2 when the Improvement Block tile is removed from the Galactic board, provided you already have the Basic Torpedoes Technology.

Improved Technologies, including Improved Torpedoes, are governed by the rules on page 31. Key conditions for availability:
- Basic Requirement: You must already own the Basic version of the Technology (Basic Torpedoes) to access its Improved counterpart.
- Cycle Timing: During Cycle 1, the Improvement Block tile covers the Improved Technologies on the Galactic board. Only the starting Improved Technology (if any) next to your House mat is available in Cycle 1. In Cycle 2 and onward, the block is removed, making all Improved Technologies on the Galactic board accessible.
- Availability Check: The Improved Torpedoes card must be present on the Galactic board (unblocked by the Improvement Block tile) and you must not have exceeded your Improved Technology limit, which depends on your Civilization track tiers (Tier 1 grants 1 slot, Tier 2+ grants additional slots).
Watch out: If the Improved Torpedoes card is not visible on the Galactic board (e.g., already taken by another player or blocked in Cycle 1), it remains unavailable until the block is lifted in Cycle 2. Always ensure you meet the Basic Technology prerequisite before attempting to upgrade.
