How do I score points in Rebirth?
Quick answer
Score points by placing Energy/ Food Farms (cluster size), Settlements (influence in completed settlements), controlling Castles, completing Missions (Private/Public), and using Port/Offshore Farm bonuses.
Details
Energy & Food Farms
- When placing an Energy or Food Farm Tile, score 1 point per Tile in your contiguous cluster of the same type and color. Clusters are formed by adjacent Tiles of identical type and color [p.3 — Scoring Tiles].
Settlements
- Small (1 space): Score points equal to the Settlement Tile’s influence (number of icons) [p.3 — Settlements].
- Medium (2 spaces): The player with the most influence scores 5 points; the other scores 3. A solo player scores 8 [p.3 — Settlements].
- Large (3 spaces): Most influence scores 8, second-most scores 5. A solo player scores 13 [p.3 — Settlements].
- Sprawling (Ireland, 4 spaces): Most influence scores 12, second-most 8, third-most 5. A solo player scores 20 [p.7 — Sprawling Settlements].
Castles
- Control a Castle by occupying the most adjacent spaces. At game end, score 5 points per controlled Castle [p.4 — Castles].
Missions
- Private Missions (Scotland): Collected via Cathedrals; score points at game end if conditions are met [p.4 — CATHEDRALS].
- Public Missions (Ireland): First player to complete a mission scores the higher value; others score the lower value afterward [p.7 — PUBLIC MISSION CARDS].
Ports & Offshore Farms
- Scotland (Ports): Score 1 point when placing a Settlement Tile on a Port space [p.3 — PORTS].
- Ireland (Offshore Farms): Score 1 point when placing any Tile on an Offshore Farm space (♦) [p.7 — OFFSHORE FARMS].
Round Tower Bonuses (Ireland)
- Specific bonuses (e.g., score 13 points, draw extra Tiles) are triggered by occupying spaces adjacent to Round Towers [p.8 — ROUND TOWER BONUSES].
Watch out: In Settlements, the player who completes the settlement loses ties. For example, in a Medium Settlement tie, the completer scores 3 points even if tied [p.3 — Settlements].
