How does Wartime Innovation's Move effect work?
Quick answer
When you win a battle, you may return a battle medal to place 1 science token on each of two different technologies. If you gain multiple medals in one battle, all science tokens must be placed on distinct technologies.
Details
Wartime Innovation allows players to convert battle medals into science tokens for technology development. Here’s how it works:
- Trigger: After winning a battle, you gain a battle medal.
- Option: You may choose to return the medal to the supply (remove it from the board) to place science tokens.
- Effect: For each returned medal, place 1 science token on two different technologies (one token per technology). For example, returning 1 medal lets you add 1 token to Tech A and 1 token to Tech B.
- Multiple Medals: If you gain ≥2 medals in a single battle, all science tokens from those medals must be placed on unique technologies. For instance, 2 medals = 4 tokens (2 tokens total, each on separate technologies).
Clarifications:
- You cannot develop a technology just by placing tokens; a Research action is still required.
- If you gain multiple medals in one battle, you decide which medals to keep or return.
Watch out:
- Ensure you have enough technology slots to place tokens. If there are fewer available slots than tokens needed, prioritize placing tokens on the highest-cost slots first.
- This effect does not grant immediate technology development—only progress toward it.
