How do we start moving forward?
Quick answer
Set up your tableau and score track, deal cards to build your reserve, then begin Turn 1 of the drafting sequence: pick a card, pass your hand, and play from your reserve.
Details
To "start moving forward" in AI, 100% Human you first complete setup: assemble the score track, place VP markers at 0, choose Phase 1 and Phase 2 Objective cards, give each player an AI card with its standee and Player Aids, and form the Phase 1 Development card deck [p.6 — SETUP].
Next, create your reserve: deal 4 Development cards to each player, who chooses 2 to place in their reserve (with the Divider card to the right), then shuffle the rest back into the deck. Then deal 7 cards to each player, added to the right of the Divider — this is your starting hand [p.8 — 2 PHASES OVERVIEW].
Once that's done, you begin the actual turn-by-turn drafting: (1) choose 1 card from your hand and add it to your reserve, (2) pass your remaining hand to your neighbor (left in Phase 1, right in Phase 2), (3) choose 1 card from your reserve and place it face down in front of you, (4) simultaneously reveal it and place it in your tableau adjacent to an existing card, and (5) check its effect and score VP immediately [p.8 — B. First drafting turn overview]. Repeat this sequence for all 7 turns of the Phase [p.9 — C. Next turns].
Watch out: In Phase 1 hands pass to the left, but in Phase 2 they pass to the right — don't forget to reverse the direction when starting the second phase [p.8 — B. First drafting turn overview].
