Where can Kiosks be placed on the board?
Quick answer
Kiosks must be placed at least 3 spaces apart from each other, adjacent to existing buildings (or on a border for the first building), and not on water/rock spaces unless the Build action is upgraded.
Details
- Distance Requirement: A Kiosk must always be at least 3 spaces away from every other Kiosk, meaning there must be at least 2 spaces between them [p.10 — BUILD].
- Adjacency Rule: For the first building (including a Kiosk), at least 1 space must be on a border space of the zoo map. Subsequent buildings (including Kiosks) must be adjacent to an existing building (sharing at least 1 edge) [p.10 — BUILD].
- Prohibited Spaces: Kiosks cannot be placed on water or rock spaces unless the Build action has been upgraded to side II, which allows building on spaces with the "C" icon [p.10 — BUILD].
- Shape and Size: Kiosks are size 1 buildings and must fit within the zoo map’s empty spaces without overlapping other structures or extending beyond the map edges [p.10 — BUILD].
Watch out: The 3-space distance rule between Kiosks is easy to overlook. Always count spaces between Kiosks carefully, as violating this rule invalidates the placement. Additionally, upgraded Build actions enable placement on "C" icon spaces, but this requires prior upgrade via reputation/conservation progress.
