How do Behemoth Secrets work in Stonesaga?
Quick answer
Behemoth Secrets are hidden cards that grant advantages when learned; they are revealed by spending 7 Lore and allow players to access specific Codex entries tied to the behemoth’s reactions.
Details
Behemoth Secrets are part of a behemoth’s components and start face down. To learn a secret:
- At the end of any Night phase, if the behemoth is in the same or adjacent hex, a character may spend 7 Lore to reveal the Secret card [p.42 — Behemoths].
- The Secret card may instruct players to reference a Codex entry using the format "[Omen] [Reaction Card ID]" (e.g., "Cloud BH2"). This provides specific advantages or insights when resolving the behemoth’s Reaction cards [p.42 — Using the Secret].
How Secrets are Used:
- When resolving a behemoth’s Reaction card, the Secret card may direct players to a Codex entry that modifies the reaction’s outcome or reveals additional information.
- For example, if a behemoth uses Reaction card BH2 and the Secret says "read Cloud [ID of Reaction card]," players look up the "Cloud BH2" entry in the Codex to apply the effect.
Watch out:
- The Codex entries are not included in these rulebook excerpts, so players must consult their physical Codex for specifics.
- Secrets are unique to each behemoth and must be learned separately for each. Once learned, the Secret card remains face up for the rest of the game.
