How do Archers work with Qui Juishao in solo mode?
Quick answer
Qin Jiushao's Archers are placed in Firing Spots on the Wall Section indicated by the current Invasion indicator; if that's impossible, the Archer isn't recruited. [p.13 — Attacking & Wounding WITH QIN JIUSHAO'S SOLDIERS]
Details
When Qin Jiushao recruits Soldiers from the Barracks, his Archers follow specific placement rules. Unlike his Spearmen, which can be placed on either Wall Section if the primary one is unavailable, Archers must go to the Wall Section pointed by the current Invasion indicator. If there are no free Firing Spots on that Section, the Archer simply isn't recruited and returns to Qin Jiushao's pool. [p.13 — Attacking & Wounding WITH QIN JIUSHAO'S SOLDIERS]
Additionally, when Qin Jiushao's Archers wound Horde cards, he always targets the Horde card closest to the Wall, covering Vital spots from top to bottom and left to right. Importantly, Qin Jiushao gets 2 Honor for each Wound dealt by his Archers, regardless of whether the spot has a reward printed on it. [p.13 — Attacking & Wounding WITH QIN JIUSHAO'S SOLDIERS]
Watch out: Qin Jiushao's Archers cannot be placed in Rest Zones—they must go directly to Firing Spots or not be recruited at all. This is different from his Spearmen, which have a fallback option.
